Thirty works ranging from painting, sculpture, photography, embroidery, video art and drawing by Italian, Israeli, English, Iranian, Palestinian and Druze artists have been included in the exhibition “A Journey for Peace. Art as Reflection and Rebirth\u201d, open at the Polo Le Rosine in Turin until June 7. Curated by Ermanno Tedeschi and Vera Pilpoul, this visual history recounts moments of pain and fragility, as well as rebirth and transformation. The exhibition’s overarching theme is a powerful message of hope and peace, as depicted in Ronit Keret’s photograph, which symbolises the initiative. In the image, the hands of four women from four different religions are clasped together against a sky alternating between clouds and serenity. Other pieces depict symbols of peace, such as Arie Berkovitz’s olive tree and Menashe Kadishman and Smadar Har-Ziv’s sheep. The aim of the curators is to demonstrate that peace is not simply a lack of conflict, but rather “an authentic model of life” that should be embraced and cultivated to prevent any form of violence. “In moments of crisis,” says Pilpoul, “art becomes a refuge and a springboard towards hope because it gives voice to the unspeakable and enables us to rebuild meaning when all seems lost”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
