Dario Calimani, 79, has been elected president of Venice’s Jewish Community for a second term. “I accept this role at a delicate political moment, and we will do our best to overcome this difficulty,” he said. A scholar of English literature, Calimani will oversee Security and the Jewish Museum. The relaunch of the museum is one of the most important goals of this term, in continuity with what was achieved during the previous one. \u201cWe have been working on that for a long time and hope to achieve it by the end of 2025\u201d.
The museum will reopen with a new look, after undergoing renovation. It will be a major step in attracting culture lovers to the historic Ghetto and revitalizing the area. \u201cWe would like to develop various cultural activities to engage the Jewish community and make it more present and active.\u201d
In addition to appealing to visitors and international tourists, Calimani aims to attract Venice\u2019s young Jews to the area and make them feel like protagonists through various initiatives to increase housing and services in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paolo Navarro Dina, the vice president, will oversee Communication, Public Relations and Secretariat, while Luigi Giraldo will be responsible for Youth. Mario Massimo Cherido was made responsible for Monumental Heritage, Cemeteries and Real Estate, while Ambra Dina was made responsible for Culture.
