Water, “a vital space of memory and conscience,” is the focus of a newly opened exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Trieste. The exhibit features photographs by Israeli artist Merav Wegerhoff portraying an ideal itinerary from the Sea of Galilee in Israel to Hanau, Germany, and Trieste, where the artist lives. The exhibition, titled Living Water, is accompanied by a percussion-accompanied chant performed by Wegerhoff herself, who is a breathing therapy facilitator. “This is a profound spiritual and cathartic journey. In it, Merav intertwines her family history, marked by the trauma of the Holocaust, with her search for healing through natural elements,” Rabbi Ariel Haddad, who coordinates the museum’s activities and curated the exhibition, explained to Pagine Ebraiche. According to Rabbi Haddad, in Wegerhoff’s journey, “water emerges as a central element of memory and rebirth, reflecting the soul and connecting past and future generations.” The images testify to Merav’s “constant commitment in transforming pain into light and compassion, honoring her roots, and proceeding toward universal awareness.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
