\nAt a meeting at the Vatican, Sylvan Adams, the Honorary President of \u2018Big Start Israel,\u2019 invited Pope Francis to launch the start of the Giro d\u2019Italia 2018, which will begin in May with the three opening stages in Israel (the first one, in Jerusalem). The news was announced on our website\u00a0www.moked.it, and was soon picked up by many newspapers raising great interest in public opinion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we verified, during the meeting Adams handed the Pope a special letter from Israel\u2019s
\nPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, requesting the pontiff\u2019s public blessing for the race, sending a strong message of peace, dialogue and coexistence across the world.

\nIn his letter to the Pope, Netanyahu wrote: \u201cThe fact that the Giro starts in Jerusalem and ends in Rome bears special symbolism, reflected in the historic document \u2018Between Jerusalem and Rome,\u2019 a copy of which was presented to Your Holiness on August 31. This event, which is endorsed by the Italian government, will be one of the highlights of the festivities marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel and is part of our joint effort to deepen interfaith dialogue and promote peace.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
