NEWS A Meaningful Meeting
“A very meaningful meeting, an occasion to address fundamental issues such as the persecution of Christians in the world and the growth of anti-Semitism”. The President of Italian Union of Jewish Communities Renzo Gattegna used these words to comment the meeting between Pope Francis and a World Jewish Congress delegation, led by its President, Ronald S. Lauder. “The atmosphere was marked by a sense of brotherhood and cordiality. The Pope underlined that the door of peace must stay open. We have to work on it, but it must stay open”.
The meeting, which took place at Francis’ residence in Rome, was also the occasion to anticipate the celebration of Jewish New Year.
