LAW ENFORCEMENT – Di Segni (UCEI) congratulates the Guardia di Finanza

In a message sent to the commander of the Guardia di Finanza, General Andrea De Gennaro, on the 250th anniversary of the agency of the Italian armed forces responsible for fighting financial crime, tax evasion and smuggling, the president of the Union of the Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI), Noemi Di Segni, expressed gratitude and esteem for the work carried out by the Guardia di Finanza in safeguarding citizens and serving the state. This anniversary was marked with a military ceremony in Piazza di Siena, Rome, attended by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and by Di Segni.

Di Segni emphasized the importance of the Guardia di Finanza in combating international terrorism “and the financing of associations supporting armies dedicated to destruction.” According to the operational report of the Guardia di Finanza over “251,880 suspicious financial flows have been investigated, generated by operators in the anti-money laundering prevention system, including approximately 500 related to terrorism financing” in the past year.
