MILAN – Ambrogino d’oro awards: Meghnagi and Cenati nominated
On December 7 in Milan, the traditional ceremony for the Ambrogino d’Oro awards, the city’s highest civic honor, will take place. Among this year’s candidates are Walker Meghnagi, president of the Jewish Community of Milan, and Roberto Cenati, former president of the local section of ANPI (National Association of Italian Partisans). The former was nominated by Lega MEP Silvia Sardone, and the latter by city councilor Daniele Nahum.
Nominations are open, and the Milan City Council’s Executive Office will decide who the 15 recipients of the Ambrogino d’Oro will be, as well as the 30 individuals who will receive Certificates of Merit (the mayor has veto power).
Cenati, who resigned from his role in March following a disagreement over ANPI’s positions on October 7 and the conflict with Hamas, was nominated by Nahum “for his contribution to the values of the Resistance and his balanced approach towards Israel, including his support for the Jewish Brigade during the April 25 parade and his stance on issues related to the Middle East conflict.”
