REMEMBRANCE – Italian synagogues light up on Kristallnacht anniversary

From Turin to Naples, from Genoa to Venice, Italian synagogues across the country lit up in remembrance on the 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht, or the “Night of Broken Glass.” This brutal pogrom, carried out by the Nazis in Germany on November 9-10, marked a dark turning point in the Holocaust.
Organized by the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, the initiative was a tribute to “the lights that were once extinguished. Today, these lights embody a vibrant and resilient Jewish identity—one that endures even as threats against the Jewish people and Israel persist.
