LIVORNO – Giachetti is the new president of the Jewish Community. “We will reopen a dialogue with the municipality.”

Gianfranco Giachetti, 78, is the new president of the Jewish Community of Livorno in Tuscany. He has run a historic beach facility for many years. He succeeds Vittorio Mosseri, who reached the limit of three consecutive terms and will now serve as vice president. “I am deeply honored by this appointment, after two terms as vice president and a long history of volunteering in our Jewish community,” Giachetti said. “We all want to work together as a team in the fairest and clearest way because that’s what the community needs.” Giachetti praised his predecessor’s work over the past 13 years. “He could not run again because the rules set a limit of three consecutive mandates, but he will be at my side as vice president.” Giachetti will be responsible for patrimony, and Mosseri will be responsible for finances. David Balata, Silvia Ottolenghi, and Gadi Polacco will oversee Culture, Security, and Social Affairs, respectively.
Giachetti said that one of their first goals is “to reopen a dialogue with the municipal government as we have recently experienced some problems related to the Middle Eastern conflict.” “We intend to stand for the indissoluble connection between Livorno and its Jewish community since the city’s foundation.”
