CULTURE Being Rutu Modan, the documentary
Last October Rutu Modan received the most important award at Lucca Comics and Games – Italian largest comic festival – and as winner of the Gran Guinigi she will be protagonist of the big exhibit in 2014, next Autumn.
The success of the most famous Israeli illustrator and comic artist is constantly growing, and after the award in Lucca her last graphic novel, “The Property” won the special jury prize at Angoulême International Comics Festival. She had won the Eisner award in 2008 with her first graphic novel, “Exit Wounds”, and a few weeks ago it has been announced that she is one of the five candidates for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Award 2014 with “The Property” in the category Best Graphic Album.
After publishing an interview with her and after hosting a conversation with her during the festival in Lucca last October, we are happy to announce that Pagine Ebraiche is now partner with Lucca Comics and with the Israeli Embassy in Italy in a new adventure: Giovanni Russo, coordinator at Lucca Comics has arrived in Israel this Sunday with a full crew to spend a week filming a documentary about Rutu Modan. After many conversations to define the themes and the details, ideas continuously flowing and developing, and tens of e-mails the production plan is finally defined and Giovanni Russo will be keeping a diary, that will be published on Pagine ebraiche 24, the daily newsletter of Italian Jewry.
