ROME – Nursery classroom named after Bibas brothers

On March 27, at the “Elio Toaff” kindergarten of the Jewish Community of Rome, a classroom was named after the brothers Ariel and Kfir Bibas. The initiative, an idea of Gianluca Pontecorvo, commemorates the two Israeli children abducted by Hamas on October 7 with their mother. Their bodies were returned to Israel at the end of February. “The Bibas brothers are one of the many symbols of this painful drama that we all have to face,” explained the president of the facility, Ruben Anticoli. “We already did it on Purim, when we welcomed the parents of Or Lamishpachot (Light to the Families) an Israeli non-profit organization that supports families of fallen soldiers and victims of terrorist attacks.”
In memory of the Bibas brothers, the writing of a new Sefer Torah is also in progress, Rabbi Alberto Funaro announced.
On the same day, a sign was placed in the kindergarten of the Sally Mayer school of the Jewish Community of Milan in memory of the Bibas brothers and all the children affected by the October 7 tragedy. The area around the sign was decorated in orange, which was the color of the hair of the two children. At the inauguration ceremony, the names of the 53 Israeli minors killed on October 7 were read, followed by a kaddish.
