TURIN – A “Table of Hope” for dialogue and peace

Representatives of various religious confessions, including the president of Turin’s Jewish Community and Chief Rabbi Ariel Finzi, established a “Table of Hope” in Turin with representatives of the Christian and Islamic communities. The goal is to promote dialogue, as “now only the reaffirmation of one’s own stance seems to prevail,” and to “invoke an end to military actions and highlight the necessity of achieving a fair peace in the Middle East as soon as possible.” According to a statement, the premise is that it is impossible “not to condemn the immense humanitarian catastrophe that the conflict in the Gaza Strip is provoking, with thousands of Palestinians on the brink of survival due to famine, while wishing that water, food, and medicine could reach civilians directly as soon as possible.” The note also states that Hamas’s refusal to return the 50 hostages still in its possession after nearly two years in dark underground prisons must be condemned. All of this is “not humanly acceptable.”
