CULTURE – Jewish studies degree, two new dissertations defended

The transcriptions of ketubbot (Jewish marriage contracts) from the “Nazione Israelitica” fund housed at the State Archive of Florence, which comprises records produced by the Tribunale dei Massari and the chancellery of the Jewish nation of Florence. But also messianisms and promised lands in the thoughts and journeys of the writer Arthur Koestler. These are the themes of the undergraduate theses defended at the UCEI triennial university degree in Jewish studies by Samuela Marconcini and Ida Giordana Menasci, respectively. Participants present or connected online included the diploma director Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni, Rabbi Giuseppe Momigliano for the Rabbinical Consulta, and UCEI Councilor Davide Jona Falco. Also in attendance were lecturers and supervisors: Asher Salah and Michael Gasperoni for Marconcini’s thesis, and Roberta Ascarelli and Myriam Silvera for Menasci’s.
